TRAIN TO GAIN SOUTH EASt

A SERVICE DESIGNED TO HELP BUSINESSES GET THE TRAINING THEY NEED TO SUCCEED

Train to Gain is the Government’s flagship service to help employers of all sizes and in all sectors get the training advice and support they need to succeed.

There is a commitment to joint investment in training by employers and Government. In return for that commitment, employers can expect that Train to Gain will give them access to:

  • A high quality skills brokerage service - or advice from high quality training providers - at no cost to the employer;

  • Help to identify and source high quality training and qualifications to meet those skills needs;

  • An expert who will design a skills solution package which may include government training subsidies, alongside the employer’s own financial contribution;

  • For those making the Skills Pledge, follow up advice and support that is fully integrated within the Train to Gain service;

  • Advice on wider business needs

This website ensures providers and brokers have up-to-date information and documents to deliver an effective and consistent Train to Gain service. The information contained on this site does not duplicate national guidance but is an information portal tailored to the South East region.

SE Regional Response Fund for Train to Gain

Train to Gain in the South East region has been incredibly successful in the last year, and especially in the last 6 months, with total starts increasing by 144% year on year.  This success means that we now have a comprehensive network of providers delivering Train to Gain across the region which has implications for our regional response fund.

As a result of our success, we will no longer be considering new providers applying for regional response funding apart from in exceptional cases where employers are demanding qualifications that cannot be delivered from within the current Train to Gain provider network.

Funding errors relating to incorrect codes being entered into Field A53

We are experiencing a number of funding errors relating to incorrect codes being entered into Field A53 of the ILR. This field relates to additional learning support and should be completed with code 97 unless additional learner support funding is being claimed. Providers are requested to revisit any ILR’s that have been coded incorrectly as a matter of urgency and re-submit them with the correct code. Failure to do this has resulted in some providers funding being capped. Full details regarding the guidance and criteria for claiming additional learning support can be found within the LSC Funding Guidance 2008/09 Principles, Rules and Regulations document under Section 13, which is on the provider website under the 08/09 funding tab.

ILR - A14 Coding Guidance

It has come to our attention that there is some ambiguity in the A14 coding guidance and that some L3 learners have been miscoded, therefore enabling full funding where learners are only eligible for co-funding.  Level 3 jumpers (ie learners who don’t already possess a Level 2) are fully funded and should be coded as 22, where a learner is progressing from a Level 2 and is aged 19-25, again they are fully funded and should be coded 24, where learners are progressing from a Level 2 and are aged 25+ OR where the Level 3 is a repeat qualification delivered from the list, the learners are co-funded and should be coded as either 10 or 99 dependent upon whether the employer contribution has been collected.  Please revisit in particular those learners who are aged 19-25 and have progressed from a Level 2 as these are the most likely group of learners to have been miscoded and there is a funding implication which would be picked up at audit.

PFR Reports

There is currently a known issue with PFRs.  This means that totals shown for payment amounts, delivery profiles and a result variance figures are incorrect. Please note this is purely a display issue and doesn’t actually affect payment amounts.  Please refer to your remittance advice for this period to see accurate information.
